Procession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Blue skies and blazing hot sunshine. The perfect weather for the annual procession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. As with every year the mix of vibrant colours and fantastically crafted floats made for a very entertaining and enjoyable day out.

It was fabulous to see a large number of young people helping out with the preparations and with the actual event itself this year. A great hope for the future of this tradition. It was also good to see a large number of children walking with the group from our youth club.

As well as having a group walking in the procession, this year the youth club also had a stall at the Sagra to help promote the youth club and the various events that we put on. The stall had lots of information about the youth club and we even had a few new members join the club.

First EVER End of year ball!

On the 9th July, the youth club held its first ever end of year ball. Similar to the American High School prom. The night gave everyone that came the chance to really get dressed up. All the girls wore beautiful ball gowns, and the guys were in immaculate suits.

After the events of the previous Thursday 7th July, we were apprehensive about the night going head at all. Although this meant that some people were not able to make it, those that did turn up had a fantastic evening! All were well fed, and the DJ kept everyone entertained all night long.

Pictures from the night can be found on the gallery page for all that want to see what they missed! It was a great success and we hope to be having another one in the near future, so keep your eyes open for more information.

Nativity play — Christmas 2004
For the past 3 years the youth club has been putting on a production of the nativity play that has gone from strength to strength each year.
Every year there is a great need for an abundance of children wishing to take part in the play and become more co-involved with our community.
Although we are not professionals, the helpers and children all work particularly hard to bring a successful performance together on the night. So we hope to see you taking part at our next production next Christmas!

Befana party — January 2005
Each year as some of you may or may not know, the youth club puts on the Befana party on the Sunday of the epiphany. Gifts are given to all the children who attend, gifts which the club provides completely free of charge as a gift to the children of the parish.
Every year we see over one hundred children walking away with smiles of joy after receiving their present from the Befana. We carry on this tradition so that we can bring a little more of our Italian culture and heritage into the lives of the children in our community.

Youth Club A.G.M. (Annual General Meeting)
Every year, as with many committees, we hold our A.G.M. as a way for us to publicise exactly what it is we do, what we have done, and what we would like to do in the future with the hope of attracting more members and helpers into our family.
Our last A.G.M. in January of this year was particularly successful as we now have 25 members, although we are always looking to grow and expand so that we can provide as much diversity as possible for the growth and development of the youth club and all of its children. We urge all parishioners to keep a lookout for the date of our A.G.M. and make a point of attending so that they can see what happens and get involved with the club, because we do want to involve everyone!
